More Maggie and About Reading

Maggie.....
9-5-09
More is coming soon.
Reading
Finished 1984. The end made me mad.... it was the only way to end it. It was a quick read and I thought the writing was well done for the type of book that it is. I felt for Winston... I have felt like Winston. I think that Orwell wrote beyond his time. There are many opportunities for our society to be this way and I think it came pretty close within the last decade. It is up to all of us to make sure that our government does not control our lives. I am not talking about health care reform. I am talking about extremists from both ends of the spectrum controlling what we see and hear. There needs to be a voice at the moderate level. anyway....
Still working through Walden. Thureau is amazing. The writing is beautiful and very descriptive. I thought I might have some trouble getting through it but I cannot put it down. His time at the pond is just the sort of soul searching that everyone needs to go through. Unfortunately it would be difficult for most to match his experience. The man just makes sense and everyone should read this book. The life lessons; how to let go; what is really important in life; taking the time to appreciate what you have; self sufficiency..... Amazing. I am a little over halfway through. This book also contains the essay Civil Disobedience which I am looking forward to reading as well.
Art
More art on the way. In progress.
